Bangkok hotel, Seven, wanted to become a destination hotel – in a city saturated with tourist accommodation. So they commissioned murals and textile patterns for seven rooms of the boutique hotel.

My aim was to create thematic murals that would give guests a glimpse into Thai art and culture, using each room to represent a day of the week.

I found that Thai lore links specific colours and imagery with days of the week. For instance, Sunday or ‘Wahn Ahtit’, is linked with red and literally means ‘day of the sun’. So I created a flame inspired mural to illustrate the flaming rays of the sun.

Though the majority of the designs are shown mocked-up, the final image is post-production in Seven.
